Sauna Maintenance

A well-maintained sauna not only ensures a longer lifespan, but also provides a hygienic, safe, and pleasant sauna experience. Regular and proper maintenance prevents wear and tear, technical malfunctions, and unpleasant odors.

After each use, it is important to let the sauna air out thoroughly. Open the door and ensure adequate ventilation so that moisture can escape and mold growth is prevented. Wipe down the benches, walls, and backrests with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove sweat residue. Do not use any harsh cleaning agents, as these can damage the wood.

Cleaning Instructions

A more thorough cleaning is recommended weekly or monthly, depending on usage. Use water to clean the wood and a mild detergent for the glass. Rinse with clean water and let everything dry thoroughly. 

Follow the cleaning product manufacturer's instructions.

Mixing cleaning products is not permitted.

When using cleaning products in a spray bottle or can, never spray directly onto the surface to be cleaned; instead, spray onto a soft cloth first to prevent the spray from penetrating into crevices where it could cause damage

Sauna stones

You should also check the sauna heater and sauna stones regularly. Damaged stones should be replaced, and any accumulated dust or dirt should be removed to ensure proper heat transfer.

Sauna wood

It is also important to inspect the bench wood periodically. The bench wood is untreated and can be cleaned with water. Check the wood for dryness and any discoloration directly where the sauna heater is located. Do not use the sauna if you notice any burn marks.

Sauna heater

If the temperature in the sauna is lower than the set values, check to see if all the heating elements are getting hot. If the heating elements show signs of wear, they must be replaced.

Before use, always check to make sure no objects have been placed on the sauna heater. This could lead to a fire hazard. 

Please note: Do not use the products listed below. 

These can cause significant damage

Acids, whether diluted or undiluted.

Cleaning products containing chlorine and/or bleach.

Harsh cleaning tools such as: abrasives, scouring pads, and microfiber cloths.

Steam cleaners.

Fragrances are not suitable for pouring.

Personal Hygiene

Shower before using the sauna, use towels on the benches, and avoid letting water or oils come into direct contact with the wood. By following these guidelines, the sauna will remain in optimal condition, and you’ll be able to enjoy relaxation and comfort for years to come.

Fragrance-infused bath products

Use only sauna infusions that are suitable for sauna use. Read the label carefully and dilute the infusion generously with water. Never pour large amounts onto the sauna stove at once; the stove will not be able to evaporate it quickly enough. 

Damaged surfaces
